Dear Park View Families,

Welcome to Park View Elementary. We are a small school tucked away on the north end of Lombard. We serve about 240 Kindergarten through Fifth Grade students. Our support staff includes school-wide services for Resource, Speech, English Language Learners, Literacy Support, and Differentiation. Our students participate in five sessions of Physical Education, two sessions of General Music, and one session of Fine Arts per week.

Park View’s Vision is to help students reach their full potential. We strive to produce life-long learners by having high standards while making learning ‘too powerful to resist’. Each year our school improvement targets center around our Mission; which is to nurture optimal academic, social-emotional, and physical growth of all our students. This aligns with District #44’s Mission of working in partnership with students, families, and community members to educate the “whole child” in order to achieve personal excellence.

Park View staff members are highly qualified educators who focus on students’ individual needs through differentiation and working in partnerships with our families. Our instruction aligns to the Illinois State Standards and we continually review and refine our resources. Technology is integrated through the disciplines to support 21st Century Learning. Staff members support students’ social-emotional needs through a Positive Behavior System (PBS) as well as an approach called RULER from Yale University. RULER stands for Recognizing- Understanding- Labeling- Expressing- Regulating emotions.

Finally, Park View is fortunate to have a strong Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) that supports our students and staff members. We work together to bring additional learning opportunities (assemblies, clubs, etc.) and fun events (pool party, etc.) to our students and families creating a community that is unique to Park View. Each year it is an honor to work with and serve the staff, students, families, and community here. I am looking forward to another amazing year.

Sincerely,

Roberta Wallerstedt
